About Buka
A micro-drama studio in Cape Town.
Buka makes serialised vertical drama in local languages for South African audiences. We release it on our own social channels, our release partner network and our own watch site.
The name
Buka means watch.
It is a command, and every episode has to earn it.
So far
From no followers to millions of views.
- Buka had no page and no followers on 10 June 2026.
- After the Bell, made for the feed, has 6.3 million views on TikTok and Facebook.
- Mountain of Graves has 4.60 million views on TikTok and Facebook, and plays in full on our own watch site.
- By 23 September 2026 our TikTok account had 59,491 followers.
- The Fiela Files and Duty or Desire joined our watch site in September 2026.
Languages
Three languages so far.
After the Bell is in isiXhosa. Mountain of Graves and The Fiela Files are in English. Duty or Desire is dubbed into isiZulu.

Every number on this site comes from TikTok, Meta and Google Analytics data, our own server log or our own viewer survey, and we say when it was counted. We publish what we learn.
